WIRED Summer Program

An immersive 4-week experience for college students inspired by WIRED’s cutting-edge perspective on technology and innovation.

Who is it for

Join WIRED journalists, innovators, and industry experts as they pull back the curtain on technology and innovation.

From understanding emerging AI to exploring technological innovations, this four-week immersive course builds key skills to engage with cutting-edge technology and AI and apply them to future careers.

In collaboration with WIRED, the leading authority on the future of tech, students will explore how AI and digital innovation intersect with their own fields of study, from healthcare and humanities to environmental science, design, journalism, business, and more.

Students will learn through lectures, workshops, hands-on labs and expert panels. Students will also benefit from personal mentorship from WIRED editors as they explore real-life case studies and present solutions to industry experts, gaining leadership skills and insider knowledge.

Build a project

Develop and present a compelling, evidence-based capstone project pertaining to a global technology issue to a panel of WIRED editors, industry experts, and technology entrepreneurs. 

Program structure

Week 1
Navigating the Frontiers of Technology

Step into the fast‑moving world of emerging tech. From artificial intelligence to breakthrough innovations, this week introduces how technology is reshaping industries, culture, and the jobs of tomorrow. Grounded in New York City—one of the world’s tech and media hubs—you’ll zoom out to explore global trends and why they matter right now.

Week 2
Technology, Society, and the Public Good

Technology doesn’t exist in a vacuum—and this week tackles the big questions behind it. Should AI be regulated? Who’s accountable when tech goes wrong? You’ll explore ethics, policy, and power across social media, public services, and everyday life, learning how technology shapes society at every level.

Week 3
Innovation for Impact

How do bold ideas turn into real‑world change? This week dives into startups, activism, healthcare, and media to show how innovation can tackle global challenges. You’ll see how technology fuels social impact—and how creative thinkers build solutions that actually make a difference.

Week 4
Global Tech Futures

What does the future of technology look like—and who gets to shape it? In the final week, you’ll explore cutting‑edge frontiers like climate tech and global AI governance, while building practical skills in pitching, presenting, and communicating ideas. You’ll gain insider perspectives from industry experts and leave with a clearer vision of where global technological innovation is headed.
