Who is it for

explore the future of technology and develop creative solutions to real-world problems

WIRED Pre-College offers a unique educational experience designed to prepare students for college through a multidisciplinary approach. Students will engage directly with industry experts, explore cutting-edge innovation hubs where real-world change is happening, and develop hands-on projects that deepen their understanding of how technology shapes our society.

Technology is inseparable from teenage life today. Our students aren’t just users of technology — they’re aspiring creators, innovators, and changemakers who want to build the future through it. With New York City as their home and classroom, WIRED students join the ranks of many of the world’s greatest thinkers, writers and dreamers.

From New York’s world-class innovation hubs to startup labs and think tanks, this city is rich in creativity and inspiration and its resources are seemingly endless. WIRED Summer Academy provides students with an immersive environment in which they learn, investigate and explore while having fun with friends, mentors and instructors who share their passions and interests.

Who is it for

WIRED Summer Academy is for 15-18 year olds who are passionate about the world of tech.

Students who enroll by our Early Enrollment deadline of February 2 will receive a $500 discount.

Tech & Entrepreneurship

Meet the people who are shaping the tech world today and learn what it takes to run a successful start up. Students will use the Business Model Canvas to develop and pitch their own tech start-up concept. Work with a group of students to create your own start up proposal that will solve a key issue in today’s world.

Tech & Media

Meet journalists and learn how they report on, and use emerging technologies. Students will learn from media innovators how technologies like augmented and virtual reality create new possibilities for what media can do. Work with a group of students to use new technologies to reach audiences in a way that conventional media wouldn’t be able to.

Tech & Society

Explore the impact of technology on contemporary culture. Delve into artificial intelligence and emerging technologies while critically examining their ethical implications across global issues such as politics, art, and the environment. Work in a group to design a concept for a tech tool that solves a social issue or responds to a rising trend while promoting cultural understanding, inclusion, and digital wellness.

With New York City as their campus, students will have access to all that the city has to offer, attending field trips, site visits and special events traveling by bus, subway and local trains.

WIRED Summer Academy is open to high school students (grades 10-12 and Graduating Seniors based on the grade the student is entering in the Fall 2026 school year). Students must be 15 years old by the first day of the program.
